Several years ago, Dan Thomson and his wife decide it is time to “name” their home in Utah.

“All the great mansions have names, right?” Dan asks. “Well our home is no mansion, however; to us it is everything.”

So the two set out to name their castle, which – if any of you listening have set out on this journey- takes time to explore many, many options. Decisions? Not so much.

Then one evening, all three of Dan’s sons, grown up and living on their own, come home for a family gathering. One parent mentions their quest to find a name for the house.

“That’s easy,” they say. “The Roots. We been calling it that for years.” The Roots?

The kids explain the origin of this unusual name. Whenever they would talk about doing something together, they would say “Okay, I will meet you at the Roots.”

“Well, it was all we needed,” Dan says. “We now had a name and set about to find a way to present to the world. We have stationary with the image on it; we have business cards with the image and name on it. Then we thought about a sign to announce the name on the house itself. That is what brought us to you.”

Dan finds PlaqueMaker’s website easy to use and order from. “Your quote came back very quickly and with very little effort on my side of the equation,” he says. He just uploaded his original artwork in Live Designer and received his proof very quickly. “It was just a matter of following some suggestions by your staff, and we selected the size and shape and then it was order time.”

At first, the Thomson family decides to display the sign outdoors at the entrance to their home. Once they see the final product, though -they choose to move it indoors and give it a special place over the fireplace in the family room. “It is so beautiful and we love it so much. We are so very pleased with the outstanding work you all have done for us.”

The Roots is a beautiful sign, indeed – and we’re pretty sure it’s a worthy addition. After all, a man’s home is his castle, right? Thanks so much for sharing your story, Dan!
