How would you honor a person you love who succumbs to breast cancer?

A few years ago, one of Kristen Case‘s good friends was diagnosed with breast cancer. She survived a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. “She thought she had it beat, but this past year the cancer came back,” Kristen tells us. “She fought really hard, but in July, Barb passed away.” Barb’s husband, her sons and many of her friends were by her side through the good and the bad. “It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through with someone.”

“Afterwards, the other ladies and I decided that we wanted to do something for her family that would be special to all of them. Barb loved the outdoors and her beautiful yard, so we decided on a bench with a beautiful plaque on it that wouldn’t weather, a reminder of Barb forever.”

A Forever Keepsake. Barb’s colorful memorial bench is made from polywood, durable enough to withstand the elements while maintaining its deep lavender hue. Kristen designed the stainless steel plaque herself, finding it easy to create it with clip art and a font using the program on our website. “Your design team put it all together in the end and sent me the proof to approve,” she says. Kristen chose PlaqueMaker because of our wide selection of plaques and signs, especially those made for outdoor use. “Your staff was very helpful when I called with questions, and there is a very fast turnaround time.”

Kristen and her friends are very pleased with the result. “It is very classy but not overstated; just what we wanted,” she says. The gift is something special, a keepsake that Barb’s husband, children, future grandchildren –and her loving friends- will treasure forever.
