When Jeni Hill decides to create a memorial for her family’s beloved pets, she calls on PlaqueMaker’s expert designers to help make her tribute a reality.

“Our beloved Kaasama passed away recently at the age of 15. Kaasama was a Shiba Inu we rescued from a Missouri puppy mill when she was about four years old,” Jeni tells us. “Her name means ‘Lady Mother’ in Japanese, a name that combines her kennel name, ‘Lady,’ and she is the mother of Kobe, our other Shiba dog. Interestingly enough, we also adopted her on Mother’s Day!”

The family decides to plant a tree in their backyard, not only as a living tribute to Kaasama, but in memory of all the pets they have lost. Working with PlaqueMaker’s expert artists, Jeni designs two oval marble plaques –one for Kaasama and one for Sabiko, another Shiba Inu rescue who had passed away in recent years. “The designer was great to work with,” Jeni says. “I appreciated knowing that my first photo selections were too low of resolution to be engraved appropriately, and found better pictures. The designer also cropped the pictures as desired. We got it all done in about three proofs, which were exciting to see, and know how nice things were going to turn out!”

The striking marble plaques now grace the ground at the base of the Hills’ pet memorial tree. “We hope to put a bench under the tree when it grows and that it will become a peaceful place to reflect and remember our beloved fur-babies,” Jeni says.

Jeni chooses PlaqueMaker to make her pet memorials because of our selection and price. In addition to being pleased with their plaques, Jeni also purchases a bronze name plate to attach to Kaasama’s urn. She says, “There truly are PlaqueMaker products to fit every budget.”

The Hills’ pet memorial tree has become even more important to them, because their cat Nacho was diagnosed with lymphoma this summer. “We know that we have a beautiful place for our boy to rest when he is tired from his journey. It is also comforting to know that when the time comes, we can get the same plaques for our other pets and be able to see their beautiful little faces again.”
